A Farewell to Love part 2

November 14, 2008 By: arlene Category: Happiness, Love, Romance 2 Comments →

But the mother and father of all the propositions in this vein is the number that rattled the candlesticks on every piano in the land during the Victorian period. ‘Come into the garden, Maud’, bearded baritones would warble passionately to bosomy beauties, ‘For the black bat, Night, has flown’:

Come into the garden, Maud, I am here — at the gate — alone!

Who says the Victorians were repressed? It’s a myth. This luscious lyric is positively aquiver with sensuality. The author, Tennyson, claimed to suffer from depression, a claim disputed by his elder brother: ‘I am the most melancholy of the Tennysons’, he would say reprovingly. But that could only have been when he wasn’t cheering himself up by thinking about a bit of the other, in Les Dawsonese. For the poem swells to a climax rioting with the most colourful version of masculine sexual ecstasy that any chap could be privileged to enjoy: (more…)

A Farewell to Love part 1

‘You do love me?

‘I really love you. I’m crazy about you. Come on, please.’

‘You really love me?’

‘Don’t keep saying that. Come on. Please, please, Catherine.’

‘You can’t. You shouldn’t —’

‘Come on. Don’t talk. Please come on.’

The seduction may be a thing of the past. But the thing itself lingers on. The present is usually bursting with one damn thing after another, whichever way a woman turns. Or rather, with the same damn thing over and over, as Edna Ferber once said. So if a girl’s going to be propositioned up hill and down dale, she should expect it to be a thing of beauty, if not a joy for ever. (more…)

Quick Nerve Pain Relief, easy home remedies

A number of different terms are commonly used to describe the various types of nerve pain encountered. The main terms used are neuralgia (meaning pain resulting from injury to a nerve, particularly in the face), sciatica (pain mediated by the sciatic nerve, running from the lower part of the spine down each leg), and neuritis (inflammation in any nerve).

Nerve pain—aching, tingling, pins and needles, and a stabbing or burning sensation are the most common—can be caused by a number of factors, both physical and psychological, but the main ones are circulatory insufficiency, poor posture, wrong diet, stress, and over-exertion. Natural therapies can ease discomfort and accelerate the recovery process. (more…)

Face Lift for who is appropriate

The best results are achieved when a face lift is done earlier rather than later. Although face lifts are usually not sought till the mid-50s or early 60s, a face lift carried out in the 40s may prevent some of the more distressing signs of facial ageing, such as hanging folds of skin around the neck, which develop later and which sometimes can’t be corrected well. Both men and women can have face lifts but the results are usually better in women. (more…)

Beauty and Face Lift Cosmetic Surgery part 1

When we are young, our facial skin is soft and elastic. It stretches when we smile, laugh, yawn, frown, etc and then springs back into its original place. The smooth, firm appearance of the young face is caused by the thin layer of fatty tissue beneath the skin. Beneath the fatty layer lies muscle and it is this that enables us to make our facial expressions. The largest muscle is the platysma muscle, which extends from the jaw into the neck, defines the angle of the chin and differentiates it from the neck. (more…)

Wrinkles and Facial Scars Cosmetic Surgery, what needs to be done?

A chemical face peel is an unpleasant-sounding procedure and unpleasant to experience too. It is usually carried out under sedation and takes about an hour if the whole of your face is being done. The surgeon first carefully cleans your face, then applies a strong chemical solution to all the areas where you want wrinkling removed. This stings, strongly but briefly. Then the treated areas are covered with layers of adhesive tape and you can go home.

Dermabrasion is a one-step procedure, which can be carried out under local or general anaesthetic and takes about an hour. A small rotating wire brush or metal wheel is used to smooth the rough areas you are having treated. (more…)

Brow Lift Cosmetic Surgery for Frown Lines and Furrows

October 16, 2008 By: arlene Category: Anti-Aging, Beauty, Botanical Beauty, Cosmetic, Cosmetic Surgery, Facial, Medi Spa, Skin Care 2 Comments →

In the course of ageing, we all develop frown lines and furrows on the forehead but for some of us they are more prominent than for others, depending on the kind of skin we have, how much we frown and, also, inherited conditions which can make these lines appear relatively earlier in life.

Most people who consider cosmetic surgery because of an unacceptable, to them, degree of ageing of the face are disappointed to find that a face lift, which sounds so all- encompassing, does not touch these lines at all. Face lift surgery concentrates on the lower face and neck only. (more…)

Cosmetic Surgery for the Chin and Aesthetical Benefit

A jutting or receding chin often causes grief to its owner but, whereas a great many people seek cosmetic surgery for noses, far fewer even know that anything can be done to the chin. Sometimes, in fact, it is the shape of the chin that throws an otherwise innocuous nose into undue prominence and a surgeon may suggest correction of the former rather than the latter. In a few cases, however, surgery for both the chin and the nose may be aesthetically beneficial.

The chin is, of course, part of the jaw but surgery for the chin is a different matter entirely from surgery for the entire jaw. The latter is a major procedure in which usually the teeth need realignment too because deformities of the jaw affect bite. Such surgery is not carried out by cosmetic surgeons but by oral and maxillofacial surgeons, working together with orthodontists. Chin surgery is concerned only with the small part of the jaw that sticks out under your mouth but it is not undertaken by all cosmetic surgeons. Ask for guidance from your general practitioner. The Tanning Myth

October 09, 2008 By: arlene Category: Anti-Aging, Fashion, Skin, USA 2 Comments →

When and why did tanning become popular? In the last century, a tan was definitely not considered to be “chic”: only laborers, farmers, and fishermen who worked long hours outdoors had tans. Women of the “upper classes” took particular pride in their porcelain-white, unspotted skins, protecting themselves from the sun with parasols, gloves, and large hats. Female beauty was measured by the translucence and smoothness of the skin. (more…)

Genetic Risk and Breast Cancer part 3

October 03, 2008 By: arlene Category: Body Care, Depression, Health, Healthcare, Medi Spa, Stress Reducing, health supplement 2 Comments →

Women with newly diagnosed breast cancer are concerned about any possible risk to their daughters and sisters. If a woman does not appear to be in a family that has breast cancer in approximately half the women on one side, then she probably does not have either the BRCA-1 or BRCA-2 gene. Gene positivity is associated with bilateral breast cancer, ovarian and breast cancer in the same family, and Ashkenazic Jewish ancestry. Women who are gene positive tend to develop breast cancer at a younger age than women with non-hereditary breast cancer. (more…)

Genetic Risk and Breast Cancer part 2

Scientists have also discovered the next defective gene to contribute to an increase in breast cancer susceptibility, which they naturally called BRCA-2. The incidence of BRCA-2 appears to be slightly less than BRCA-1. BRCA-2 is autosomal dominant also and resides on the thirteenth chromosome. Initially, it was believed that the presence of the BRCA-2 gene defect did not appear to increase risk for ovarian cancer. (more…)

Genetic Risk and Breast Cancer part 1

All cancer is genetic. That is to say, that in order for a normal cell to convert to a cancerous cell, a genetic mishap must occur. These genetic mishaps, or mutations, occur quite frequently and are usually of little consequence unless the event occurs at a critical location on one of the chromosomes. A single mutation does not lead to a cancer. Cancer results from two to three separate events over time. (more…)

After Medical Treatment, Copying Fear of Recurrence

October 03, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Depression, Drug, Happiness, Health, Medi Spa, Nutrition, Women, health supplement 3 Comments →

However, if your cancer treatment is completed and you feel an unexplainable anxiety even though your trials are apparently over, read on.

These feelings are common and occur, in part, because the end has come to the frequent visits with your various doctors, which can serve to comfort—giving you the tangible evidence that someone is watching over you and your health. But, aside from that, you may be struggling with the fear of recurrence that many women experience at this time. Remember, during the treatment planning process, you want to develop a plan to optimize your chance of cure and to carry out that plan. When done, it is time for you to go on with your life. (more…)

Hormone Replacement therapy after Breast Cancer continue…

September 25, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Depression, Drug, Health, UK, USA, health supplement 2 Comments →

I have only roundabout evidence regarding HRT in breast cancer survivors. For example, we know that younger women who have had breast cancer and then go on to become pregnant, with the associated high levels of estrogen and progesterone, do not have a worse prognosis or earlier relapse of breast cancer than women who do not experience a pregnancy. If estrogen can theoretically stimulate breast cancer growth, why do I see breast cancer appear in older postmenopausal women who are not on HRT? This is a fairly frequent occurrence, and most of these cancers are hormone receptor positive, yet they are growing in an estrogen-poor environment. This seems to counter what we know about the environment that is conducive to breast cancer, but this is just another reminder of how much we do not understand about this disease. (more…)

Hormone Replacement therapy after Breast Cancer

September 25, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Drug, Happiness, Health, Healthcare, Women 4 Comments →

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a major area of concern among women with a history of breast cancer. If you are in the crisis of a recent breast cancer diagnosis, the issue of HRT may seem relatively unimportant. However, as you get farther along and finish your treatment and proceed with your life, questions regarding HRT will certainly arise.

Much has been written on the issue of HRT in general. Less is known specifically about HRT for breast cancer survivors because doctors have been concerned about prescribing anything for their patients that may increase the risk of recurrent disease. (more…)

Breast Cancer Survival, Organizing Your Medical Information

September 25, 2008 By: arlene Category: Drug, Happiness, Health, Women, health supplement 2 Comments →

I suggest you adopt an organized approach to collecting your medical information from the time you are diagnosed with breast cancer. Purchase a three-ring binder with dividers, and create the following categories:

  1. Insurance/doctor directory. This section includes such personal information as your insurance policy number and the address and phone number of your insurance company, your date of birth and social security number as well as those of your spouse, work phone numbers, people to call in an emergency and their numbers, baby-sitters, and anyone whose phone numbers and addresses you may need in a pinch.

Skin is not safe from Sun Exposure part 3

Decreased Immunity

Your skin is your first layer of protection from the environment. These capture foreign substances and organisms to present them to the immune system deeper in the skin and in the blood.

It is known that after exposure to UV light, the number of Langerhan’s cells markedly decreases and can even disappear completely, making us far more susceptible to skin infection. When you suffer sunburn you compound the problem. Not only are your immune cells depleted, but the blistering of acute sunburn breaks down the skin, making infection more likely. (more…)

Skin Photoallergies

A photoallergy is a specific immune reaction that occurs only in certain people after they have been exposed several times to the offending substance and then sunbathed or used a tanning bed. Even a small amount of the substance can cause a red, scaly or blistering eruption when the person sunbathes. The rash usuallybegins over 12 hours after exposure.

A photoallergic reaction is very individual. (more…)

Wondering an affordable Luxury Lifestyle?

Last month I went car dealer, asked about the latest cars. The petrol price is not that high any more. So I think maybe it is the time for me to shop a new car.

Women like me living the city, can never extravagantly dream to have different lifestyle. Driving to work, finish work and driving back to home. (more…)
