Breast Cancer Survival, Organizing Your Medical Information

September 25, 2008 By: arlene Category: Drug, Happiness, Health, Women, health supplement 2 Comments →

I suggest you adopt an organized approach to collecting your medical information from the time you are diagnosed with breast cancer. Purchase a three-ring binder with dividers, and create the following categories:

  1. Insurance/doctor directory. This section includes such personal information as your insurance policy number and the address and phone number of your insurance company, your date of birth and social security number as well as those of your spouse, work phone numbers, people to call in an emergency and their numbers, baby-sitters, and anyone whose phone numbers and addresses you may need in a pinch.

Skin Store Moderate and Severe Acne Facial Treatment

It is difficult to understand why one person may have bad acne covering most of the back or chest but none on the face whilst another individual may have severe facial acne but little elsewhere. We presume that it is only the sebaceous glands and follicles in the affected areas that are responding to the hormone changes in the blood. Whichever area is affected, the changes are of larger papules and pustules which last longer and some of them may leave small scars. Blackheads will almost certainly be seen as well and they can be very extensive. When a flare-up occurs it may be very uncomfortable and an occasional cyst may appear. (more…)

Marriage Internal Romantic Love Relationship Chemistry Pheromones Brings Changes of Mood

July 19, 2008 By: arlene Category: Children, Family, Life, Women No Comments →

Marriage is a merger of two different individuals. These differences are perfectly natural, some of them arising from powerful substances produced in the human body. The presence of these chemicals brings on profound changes in form and behavior, especially in the female, while in the male there may be little change from day to day. The woman is never quite the same from one day to the next. Every month she passes through what is known as her menstrual cycle. This is brought about by the ebb and flow of the chemical hormones in her blood stream. This results in a wide variation of feelings toward herself, her husband, and those around her. (more…)

Skin changes: Eczema (dermatitis)

July 16, 2008 By: arlene Category: Cosmetic, Skin Care, UK 5 Comments →

Although some people use the words eczema and dermatitis to mean different things, most skin doctors now use the words interchangeably and there is no suggestion that one implies an inherited factor rather than an environmental cause. Eczema comes from a Greek word meaning to ‘boil out’ and, as we shall see, this is a good description for one variety of the disease. Dermatitis means inflammation of the skin and this is also accurate.

Eczema is not a single disease but a group of irritating and sore conditions. In severe forms the skin may even weep and blister. There may be an inherited cause, an external trigger or a combination of events leading to the final picture. Eczema affects something like five million people in Britain in degrees from very mild to extremely severe, irregularly or persistently and in ages ranging from the newborn to old age. It is no wonder that a huge amount of money and time is spent on researching the causes and improving the care of sufferers. It is another example of a problem that may not kill people but causes a remarkable amount of suffering. (more…)

Stress and Relaxation: Two Sides of a Coin

It is now common knowledge that uncontrolled stress can trigger a great many diseases and disorders—insomnia, gastric ulcers, high blood pressure, asthma, and migraine, to mention just a few. But for a long time these ailments were treated like something over which we had no control. It was assumed that one could only treat their symptoms with drugs, treat the stress that triggered them off with more drugs, and hope for the best. Now, thanks to research into altered states of consciousness and work done with biofeedback, studies have shown that every human being can exercise a high level of conscious control over his nervous system. Aging Begins on a Cellular Level

April 21, 2008 By: arlene Category: Nutrition, Skin Care 5 Comments →

Nothing betrays your age like the state of your skin. When you are young, it is thick, glowing, soft, and elastic. As the years go by, a number of changes take place. The thickness of the skin diminishes by half. It loses its firmness. First, expression lines and minor discolorations form, then these tiny imperfections gradually become wrinkles and blotched skin, which is no longer able to retain water as it once could–skin that has lost its elasticity and turned crepey and old-looking. How fast all this happens depends not only on your genetic inheritance but also on the internal state of your body, your stress levels, and the care and protection you provide for your skin from the outside.

The aging process in your skin is really no different from anywhere else in the body, except that it can be faster. This is because, first, the skin’s cells tend to divide more often than most other kinds of cells, so genetic mutations are passed on more rapidly, and second, because your skin has to put up with so many external insults from what it is exposed to environmentally. Emotions and Overeating

March 26, 2008 By: arlene Category: Depression, Diet, Food, Weight Control 6 Comments →

Dieting changes your mood and mood changes can cause overeating. Dieters often report feeling positive and motivated at the beginning of a diet. It provides a structure and a goal, and a way to confront life’s problems. However, dieting can also cause misery and feelings of inadequacy.

Women set themselves targets. They aim for a specific rate of weight loss and decide that all they have to do is eat less! However, it is not as simple as this and not losing weight or diet-breaking is depressing. Not being able to achieve these goals can make you feel a failure. Diet-breaking is understood in terms of being weak-willed, and this idea is promoted by the dieting industry which suggests that weight loss is a sign of control, thinness is a sign of control, and not sticking to its diet sheets is due to weakness and not the fault of its diet. Chemical Theories on Depression

February 29, 2008 By: arlene Category: Depression, Family, Healthcare, Life, People, Stress Reducing 4 Comments →

The brain consists of about ten thousand million neurones, ornerve cells, each cell having the capacity to conduct a tinyelectric charge to others, via seven or eight thousand interconnections. The tail of each cell spreads into thousands offibres, each ending with a swelling called a terminal button. The electric charge passes from the head of the cell to the tail, and ends in the thousands of terminal buttons. Between theterminal buttons of one cell and the head of the next cell aremicroscopic gaps called synapses. The electric current can not jump the synapse, but instead causes a change in the chemicals within the synapse, this change then causing a current to start in the head of the next cell. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters because they effectively transmit electrical charge from one neurone to the next. A few neurotransmitters have been isolated. They are divided into two groups, called the monoamines and the catecholamines. (more…)

Pre-Menstrual Tension

February 27, 2008 By: arlene Category: Body Care, Clinic, Health, Healthcare, Women 6 Comments →

The pre-menstrual syndrome is a group of symptoms which occur regularly before menstruation and during early menstruation. After menstruation you are, by strict definition, entirely free from symptoms.

The symptoms are variable, ranging from migraine, backache, joint pains, asthma, tension, irritability, pimples and blotchy skin to swollen breasts, swollen ankles, bloatedness and tiredness. If the symptoms include the triad of tiredness, depression and irritability, this is called pre-menstrual tension. To find out whether you are susceptible to pre-menstrual depression or tension, it is useful to record accurately the timing of symptoms in relation to the menstrual cycle. This means using a diary or a chart every day for several months, and recording the presence or absence of symptoms and the presence or absence of menstruation. Only if there is a regular correlation and if the symptom disappears after menstruation, can you be sure of the diagnosis. (more…)
