Lost Beauty, Cosmetic Surgery

All right indeed — the perfect proposition, asking her nicely, but allowing her to say no. The DF hero is appealing in other ways, too. He’s prepared to take the risk of a refusal, which the eggshell egos of so many men won’t tolerate. But best of all he cares, he really cares. This is the theme of a characteristic bitter-sweet moment from Reflex:
`A great day,’ Clare said, smiling over the coffee. ‘Where’s the nearest train?’
`Swindon. I’ll drive you there . . . or you could stay.’ She regarded me levelly. ‘Is that the sort of invitation I think it is?’
`I wouldn’t be surprised.’ (more…)
Do you allow him to be the spiritual leader at home? Do you consult him about spiritual problems? Do you allow him to teach the children biblical truths? Do you ever pray together? Does he sense that you look up to him for spiritual guidance, or does he feel spiritually inferior to you? Do you ever ask him to pray for you in times of special need? Do you share your own spiritual problems or experiences with him? (more…)
You might have a throbbing headache for a day or two but otherwise little pain. Your head will be bandaged for two or three days, after which you can gently wash your hair, which will probably feel matted after the surgery. Stitches are removed about ten days after the operation, unless they are the dissolving kind. (more…)
Scientists have also discovered the next defective gene to contribute to an increase in breast cancer susceptibility, which they naturally called BRCA-2. The incidence of BRCA-2 appears to be slightly less than BRCA-1. BRCA-2 is autosomal dominant also and resides on the thirteenth chromosome. Initially, it was believed that the presence of the BRCA-2 gene defect did not appear to increase risk for ovarian cancer. (more…)
However, if your cancer treatment is completed and you feel an unexplainable anxiety even though your trials are apparently over, read on.
These feelings are common and occur, in part, because the end has come to the frequent visits with your various doctors, which can serve to comfort—giving you the tangible evidence that someone is watching over you and your health. But, aside from that, you may be struggling with the fear of recurrence that many women experience at this time. Remember, during the treatment planning process, you want to develop a plan to optimize your chance of cure and to carry out that plan. When done, it is time for you to go on with your life. (more…)
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a major area of concern among women with a history of breast cancer. If you are in the crisis of a recent breast cancer diagnosis, the issue of HRT may seem relatively unimportant. However, as you get farther along and finish your treatment and proceed with your life, questions regarding HRT will certainly arise.
Much has been written on the issue of HRT in general. Less is known specifically about HRT for breast cancer survivors because doctors have been concerned about prescribing anything for their patients that may increase the risk of recurrent disease. (more…)
Me and my husband work at home, we never plan to find nanny for our 2 year old daughter. Our office is too dangerous to have our daughter around. Electronic wires, appliance everywhere, and the small fingers like to discover. (more…)
I suggest you adopt an organized approach to collecting your medical information from the time you are diagnosed with breast cancer. Purchase a three-ring binder with dividers, and create the following categories:
Last month I went car dealer, asked about the latest cars. The petrol price is not that high any more. So I think maybe it is the time for me to shop a new car.
Women like me living the city, can never extravagantly dream to have different lifestyle. Driving to work, finish work and driving back to home. (more…)
Some survivors have the opposite problem: orgasms that come too quickly. A survivor may have found a quick orgasm helped in coping with stimulation, tension, or painful emotion felt during abuse. Also, sometimes the abuser left the child alone after orgasm; orgasm was a way to end the abuse more quickly.
As a result of past associations, sexual touch may trigger an early climax. A current situation may remind a survivor of the abuse in some ways. A survivor may feel caught in an intense buildup of anxiety and fear that erupts suddenly in an orgasm, as this survivor experienced: (more…)
Regardless of income, background or lifestyle, modern women have no excuse for being badly groomed. We can all transform our appearance simply by bothering to attend to details — and a little regular care and attention doesn’t take as much time as you might think. Here are some guidelines.
Clean, conditioned and well-cut. Individual needs obviously vary but, at minimum, have your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks. (more…)
You will have as many scars as you had incisions but none should be longer than half an inch. If your buttocks and thighs have been treated, most of the scars should be hidden by the buttock crease. Scars behind the knee, on the ankle or on the stomach will show and some can turn out to look red and thick. (more…)
The effects of the sun can be seen on the skin of any present or former sun-worshipper in the form of wrinkles, dark spots, roughness, leathery skin texture and a sallow complexion, often with prominent bursts of blood vessels. Under the microscope this shows up as thickening of the outer layer of the skin, with extra grouped pigment cells, and in the deeper dermis, clumps of non-functional elastic tissue and loss of collagen. (more…)
When you take the time to ask “Why?” science will always answer “How”. In the case of wrinkles, as you learn why they appear, you can also learn how to prevent or postpone their appearance, plus how to eliminate many of the wrinkles you already have. It’s never too late to care for your skin, to prevent more wrinkles from appearing, and to soften those already present. It’s never too late to look and feel younger! (more…)
It is difficult to understand why one person may have bad acne covering most of the back or chest but none on the face whilst another individual may have severe facial acne but little elsewhere. We presume that it is only the sebaceous glands and follicles in the affected areas that are responding to the hormone changes in the blood. Whichever area is affected, the changes are of larger papules and pustules which last longer and some of them may leave small scars. Blackheads will almost certainly be seen as well and they can be very extensive. When a flare-up occurs it may be very uncomfortable and an occasional cyst may appear. (more…)
Many parents hold to the foolish idea that money is the important thing in life. As a result they neglect their children and fail to spend sufficient time in their training. This is a serious mistake. Money is always useful, but material wealth alone will never guarantee a happy home. In fact, it might have the opposite effect.
Although a good bank account might be a fine asset to any well-trained young person, it could be a menace to one who has never had adequate training. When such a person inherits a large fortune, he may quickly lose it on useless investments. Or as it sometimes happens, he may try to dominate those around him by giving or withholding money. In the end no one is happy. (more…)
Is any other place so dear to the human heart? Wherever we go, our thoughts ever turn to the one spot we can always call our own. No matter how humble, our fondest dreams are centered there. It need not be a mansion or lavishly furnished with the latest appliances. Although these may be desirable, they are not essential to true happiness. As the poet has said:
“Be it ever so humble. There’s no place like home.”
This kind of home is a shelter from the storms of life. It is the one place where the family can enjoy an atmosphere of peace and rest. Such a home will give depth and meaning to all we do, say, or think. If that home is blessed with children who grow into mature and happy young people, there is no lovelier sight in the world. How do most family quarrels start? This, of course, is hard to say, for usually there is no single cause. Often there is some underlying discontent, particularly on the part of the wife. Marriage has changed her lot completely, while her husband may be carrying on the same work that has occupied his time for years. He may prefer to continue his routine uninterrupted, while she will want plenty of variety. She may then assume that he does not love her. This may be true in some instances, but not in most. In any case she may begin to feel rather neglected. She wants more attention. A brisk family contention may seem a rather rough way to bring this about, but it usually attracts the attention she craves—sometimes much more! Most men will take just so much, then there may be trouble, perhaps even physical violence. The sensible thing to do is prevent such episodes before they reach the place where there seems to be no turning back. (more…)
Almost every healthy person at some time has had a desire to be married. This is the most natural thing in the world.
There may be various reasons for this desire— love, sex, security, companionship, and so forth —but the urge is usually there. And yet it takes far more than a mere urge for one to be happy in marriage. Surely there must be some counsel that young and old can follow to avoid the mistakes so many are making every day. (more…)
