Hibernating Wrinkles!

August 03, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Body Care, Cosmetic, Facial, Jewelry, Lips Care, SPA, Skin Care 5 Comments →

As you now realize, most of our larger wrinkles are caused by repeated facial expressions: frowning, squinting, smiling, grimacing or raising our eyebrows, or sometimes by moving one side of our face more than the other. With time, our facial wrinkles begin to show our facial habits. (more…)

Skin Bleaching” Medical Surgery Basic Procedure

Before a chemical peel, the doctor may recommend that the face be “pre-treated” with a special exfoliating cleanser, with retinoic acid, or with alpha-hydroxy acids so that the peel procedure can be performed on a more even skin surface. Just before the peel, the doctor may ask the patient to wash his or her face thoroughly. Then he or she will clean the patient’s face extensively with alcohol oracetone, rubbing the superficial oil from the skin. (more…)

Mild Acne and Avoidable Acne relates to Cosmetics, Clothing, Perfume

Acne usually starts as a few blackheads on the nose and forehead and a few inflamed papules also appear often on a greasy skin. Often the spots come in crops so that there are times in between without any spots. Many girls have a bout of acne around the time of their period.

Cosmetics

Very greasy or oily cosmetics are best avoided because they can block up the follicles and make acne worse. This may happen under a fringe when the hair may prevent the grease escaping. Disagreement about the best advice partly stems from the fact that in America they used to have a lot of trouble with greasy make-up causing acne. In Britain most doctors are happy to allow the use of noncomedogenic foundation, moisturizers etc. Some people gain much confidence if they can hide their spots. (more…)

Skin Store Moderate and Severe Acne Facial Treatment

July 26, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Body Care, Cosmetic, Facial, Fashion, Nail Care, SPA, Skin, Skin Care, Women 4 Comments →

It is difficult to understand why one person may have bad acne covering most of the back or chest but none on the face whilst another individual may have severe facial acne but little elsewhere. We presume that it is only the sebaceous glands and follicles in the affected areas that are responding to the hormone changes in the blood. Whichever area is affected, the changes are of larger papules and pustules which last longer and some of them may leave small scars. Blackheads will almost certainly be seen as well and they can be very extensive. When a flare-up occurs it may be very uncomfortable and an occasional cyst may appear. (more…)

Who Starts the Quarrels?

How do most family quarrels start? This, of course, is hard to say, for usually there is no single cause. Often there is some underlying discontent, particularly on the part of the wife. Marriage has changed her lot completely, while her husband may be carrying on the same work that has occupied his time for years. He may prefer to continue his routine uninterrupted, while she will want plenty of variety. She may then assume that he does not love her. This may be true in some instances, but not in most. In any case she may begin to feel rather neglected. She wants more attention. A brisk family contention may seem a rather rough way to bring this about, but it usually attracts the attention she craves—sometimes much more! Most men will take just so much, then there may be trouble, perhaps even physical violence. The sensible thing to do is prevent such episodes before they reach the place where there seems to be no turning back. (more…)

Treatment of skin lumps

Cryotherapy

The destruction of skin tumors by bringing the temperature well below freezing point is called cryosurgery. Liquid nitrogen is the most popular refrigerant (temperature in the flask -196°C). It is applied to the skin either on a cotton swab or as a spray through a nozzle from a flask. The use of liquid nitrogen for the treatment of warts is described elsewhere. Other uses are treating seborrheic warts, actinic keratoses (see under sun-induced skin changes) and occasionally small basal cell cancers. (more…)

Natural Sleep Cure: Trouble Sleeping Help & Treatment tips

Elderly people have trouble sleeping for the same reasons as people from other age groups. But there are additional factors.

  • Chronic illnesses. The elderly often suffer from chronic mental and physical illnesses that make it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep. For example: An enlarged prostate is often associated with a frequent need to urinate. Dementia may be associated with confusion and heightened fear after dark (known as sundowning). Painful conditions such as bone fractures due to osteoporosis (especially in women), arthritis and vascular disease can make sleeping difficult. Depression, quite common in the elderly population, often causes insomnia as well.
  • Medication. Older people have stronger reactions to medication. Notable effects that these medications such as tranquillizers and hypnotics, have on the elderly include frequent nightmares, insomnia and hypersomnia.

Sleeping Beauty Enjoy a moment quality of Life

June 28, 2008 By: arlene Category: Body Care, Clinic, Healthcare, SPA, Stress Reducing, USA 4 Comments →

When we battle with the night, our sleep is non-refreshing and non-restorative. The daytime consequences range from drowsiness to decreased productivity, increased accident rates, health problems and a reduction in the quality of life. In fact, fatigue is the most common complaint heard by doctors.

Many sleep disorders go unreported because the troubled person is not awake or alert when the symptoms appear. These individuals are chronically exhausted but do not know why, and may be regarded by others as simply lazy. (more…)

How to be a famous Decorator: TRUST YOUR OWN TASTE part 1

Although money can’t buy it, anyone intelligent can learn to have good taste. You can spend like a drunken film star, but you risk an expensive clutter that hasn’t quite come off. If you pay someone else to design your home you risk something pretty expensive, lifeless and unlived in, or alternatively, an exuberantly camped-up setting with mouldings picked out in white and in which you feel uneasy.

So the first rule is Do it yourself. Because otherwise you’ll never learn.

Discovering your own good taste is an unpeeling process, eliminating the layers which other people have impressed upon you. One of the easiest ways to find out what you like is to get a pinboard and start sticking up anything which takes your fancy — a scrap of lace, photographs, postcards, a colour swatch, a cartoon. What to do with the time you’ve saved

June 16, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Cookery, Cosmetic, Diet, Facial, Food, Hair Care, Jewelry, Nail Care, SPA, Skin Care 6 Comments →

First, take a good look at yourself (body, soul and inside skull). Decide what areas could stand a little pleasant improvement. Decide what your life lacks. New friends? Less weight? More fun? Once you’ve decided what you want, stand up, take a deep breath, and S TART.

What you can do inside your home

Make yourself more beautiful: This is basically taking better care of yourself, encouraging healthy narcissism, learning to love and take care of your body, condition your skin and hair. Learn to relax. Take care of yourclothes. (more…)

How do Magnets Work? continue…

June 15, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Family, Fashion, SPA, Skin Care 3 Comments →

If a magnet is going to work for you, it can happen within hours when quality magnets are placed over the damaged area. Normally weexpect to see improvements within 1 -7 days, when you are directly treating the site of pain.

A wristband or sufficiently strong bracelet is fine if you have hand or wrist pain, or if you want tomaximise your general healthand detox you body. You will keep it there, as it is easy to wear there. But there is little point in relaxing and promoting blood flow to your wrist if your problem is your lower back! (more…)

How do Magnets Work?

June 15, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Cosmetic, Fashion, SPA, Skin Care 6 Comments →

Thereis still much research and debate about how magnets work.

Different theories have been put forward by manufacturers of magnetic products. I will summarise the largely accepted views held by doctors and researchers.

When a magnet is applied to the body, muscles and soft tissue lengthen and relax, waves pass through the tissue and secondary currents are induced. When those currents clash with magnetic waves they produce impacting heat on electrons in the body cells. These impacting heats are very effective in the reduction of muscle swelling and pain. Early Warning Signs of TSS

If you develop any of these symptoms during or just after your menstrual period, tell Mom immediately and see your doctor:

  • High fever
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Sore throat
  • Aching muscles
  • Lightheadedness
  • Rash (resembling sunburn)

Remember, TSS can be serious, even fatal, but not if it’s caught in time and treated. So if you have any symptoms that worry you, don’t keep them to yourself. (more…)

A number of very special health, fitness, and beauty problems arise out of that unique condition of being a girl. This section is designed to give you a quick overview of some of those problems and to direct you in seeking further help, should you need it.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Premenstrual syndrome is a newly coined name for an old, old problem. Many girls and women have complained that before their menstrual period they experience a number of painful and sometimes incapacitating symptoms.

Give Yourself an At-Home Facial

June 07, 2008 By: arlene Category: SPA, Skin Care 5 Comments →

Salon facials help turn good skin into great, but they can be very costly. Why not learn to give yourself one at home instead? The following facial is adapted from one offered at a famous New York City salon:

  1. Cleanse skin with cleansing cream or lotion; remove with pure, facial-quality cotton. Don’t use synthetic cosmetic puffs; they’re too rough for the face.
  2. Place loose camomile tea leaves in a pot of water and bring to a boil; remove pot from the heat. Transfer liquid to a large ceramic bowl.
  3. Lean face a comfortable distance over the bowl; the steam should feel hot but should not burn. Drape a thick towel over your head to keep the steam from escaping. When the steam is gone, strain the liquid from the bowl and place it in the freezer until very cold.

You and Your Facial Structure

The oval (top left) is considered the ideal shape, but don’t despair: You can improve on nature by the proper application of shadow base (a shade darker than your foundation) and highlighter (a shade lighter than foundation). (Note: The white areas in the diagram represent the highlighter; shaded areas represent the shadow base). Begin by applying your foundation, then consult the descriptions below for providing your own corrective shaping.

The Eyes Have all It

June 06, 2008 By: arlene Category: Cosmetic, Eye Care, Lips Care, SPA, Skin Care 3 Comments →

For sparkling bright beauties, start with the right tools:

  • Several small, round-tipped sable brushes for applying color to lids, under lower lashes; also essential for blending.
  • Flat, fan-shaped brush to apply more than a single color at a time or to cover large areas with bright shadows.
  • Eyelash/eyebrow brush. This handy duo does two jobs: one side smooths brows, the little comb on the other side separates lashes. What not to use: a pin, a bent paperclip, a comb handle; any of these could slip, causing serious eye damage.
  • Cotton powderpuff to “set” eye makeup with translucent powder.
  • Large, fluffy brush to remove excess translucent powder.

Putting all together (Gloves & Belts)

Gloves

Don’t neglect the power gloves can have as a fashion accent! Most of your gloves will be worn in cold weather, so you’ll need to find a pair (or two or three, to change off) that are warm as well as pretty. You can choose from a variety of knitted styles. Find a color that picks up a tone in your coat, e.g., cocoa brown with an olive/ toast/ beige tweed; or a startling contrast, like electric blue with a black coat that will get your blood going on a nippy day. Good knit choices: wool, cashmere, angora, blends, or synthetics. Keep in mind that longer gloves will prevent the wind from whistling in at your wrists; save shorter styles for milder days. (more…)

The Decanter

This exercise stimulates the nervous system and at the same time stills a restless or anxious mind. I like doing it after I have been working in an immobile position for a long time—for instance, when I have been at my desk writing for several hours. I do it just before I get up to move about.

Sitting comfortably in a chair with a straight back or cross-legged on the floor, imagine that your body is like a decanter, the bottom of the decanter being your pelvis and hips and the top of it your head. Pretend that you are going to fill it with energy in the form of air. (more…)
