Fat, used to it or lose it
Animal bodies, like ours, are made up of two basic components – lean body mass (LBM), which encompasses our muscle tissue, and fat. Lean body mass consists of organs like the heart, the liver, the pancreas, bones and skin, as well as muscle. It is your LBM that burns oxygen, uses nutrients from your food, thinks and feels, moves, grows and repairs itself. A high percentage of LBM is what gives wild animals their power, ease of movement, stamina and sleek bodies. The rest of you is fat. (more…)
Overweight or Obese?
There is a difference between simply being overweight and being obese. Overweight means that you have more fat on your body than is good for you. If the amount of fat is so great that it affects your health it is called obesity or being adipose. (more…)

There are thousands of self-help books available that actually have some very good advice. While some of the advice may not apply to your situation, most books at least have one nugget of knowledge that can be useful. Visit your local bookstores and libraries, and read as much as you can. The internet also has useful information to offer although care must be exercised as some sources of information may not be reliable. If in doubt, one should check with one’s mental health provider concerning the validity of information obtained from the internet. Some people have a problem when they read self-help books. (more…)

If I had an instant solution, and this would be much longer and full of stories about famous people — with glossy pictures where they are pictured as being as thin as a rake, wearing designer outfits and speaking about the joys of being almost invisible.
