August 15, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Health, Healthcare 3 Comments →

Buying healthcare insurance means paying a company to take the risk, be it sickness in your place. If the particular event you are insured against happens, the insuring company pays out the agreed amount to you as compensation.

Fat Suction Scars

You will have as many scars as you had incisions but none should be longer than half an inch. If your buttocks and thighs have been treated, most of the scars should be hidden by the buttock crease. Scars behind the knee, on the ankle or on the stomach will show and some can turn out to look red and thick. (more…)

Home Precaution against Food Poisoning (Human Hazard)

The Human Hazard

It sometimes happens, as is well known, that a perfectly healthy person can carry disease germs in the gut, nose and even on the skin without being aware of it. Those who have recently suffered such diseases as dysentery can carry the germs for several months after recovering completely from the original infection. Indeed, a famous case was that of “Typhoid Mary,” an American cook, a typhoid carrier, who was paid a pension by the U.S. Government for nearly fifty years in order to keep her away from the kitchen. She was, of course, an exceptional case. (more…)

Home Precaution against Food Poisoning (Infection: Hands Kitchen Dishcloth)

Infection

Certain food poisoning bacteria other than staphylococci can infect food and grow in it without detectable taste or smell. Then, when the food is eaten, these germs gain access to the gut of the consumer, multiply there and cause a typical gastroenteric form of poisoning.

An example of this type of infection is that caused by the Salmonella group of bacteria. These germs are normally carried in the gut by pigs, poultry, cows, bullocks, sheep, domestic animals and rodents, and, to a lesser extent, human beings. Eggs (especially duck), egg powder and milk can also be affected. (more…)

For the protection of your family, watch for the unsuspected dangers that lurk in your kitchen

“The standard of food hygiene in this I country must be raised.” That statement has been voiced in the press, on the radio, in Parliament, even on the village green, with increasing frequency during the past few years. And rightly so, for it concerns us all. But it is the housewife particularly who has it in her power to see that the standard is raised. (more…)

4 Gravity and Wrinkles Causes

The whole universe is held together by gravity. The movements of the earth around the sun (determining the seasons) and of the moon around the earth (regulating the tides) are all according to the invisible force of gravity. Although gravity makes life possible (and helps people walk rather than float!), we are not often conscious of gravity’s effect on our appearance. (more…)

Body-Mind Energy Massage

The activities of the body-mind are engendered and maintained by the vibrations of the environment. Certain vibration frequencies are picked up by our sense organs. Colors, light, sounds, and the resistance of matter are manifestations of the same energy, segments perceived in a continuous range of waves.

We are sometimes conscious of these phenomena, and sometimes not. The same can be said of the waves picked up by our skin, the palms of our hands, and the soles of our feet. Not all human beings pick up energy in the same way, because many receive vibrations from the environment badly or incompletely. (more…)

Most people who are plump are jolly and good natured. They are pleasant and easy going and not at all hard to get along with—until perhaps they take it into their heads to begin to reduce! Most of them are full of alibis and reasons for their extra weight. Except in rare cases there is only one reason why any of them are plump and well padded. They just love to eat! (more…)

Ideals for Happy Living, hold the Family together

July 28, 2008 By: arlene Category: Children, Depression, Family, Food, Life, Parenting, Recipes 3 Comments →

This is the most important step of all, for no house can be a real home unless those who live there hold ideals that are kind, noble, and good. Without high ideals it is easy for even the best of homes to drift apart. There must always be some things that will hold the family together, such as family worship, in which all the members may share. These happy occasions are not likely to come by accident but must be carefully planned by the parents. (more…)

Mild Acne and Avoidable Acne relates to Cosmetics, Clothing, Perfume

Acne usually starts as a few blackheads on the nose and forehead and a few inflamed papules also appear often on a greasy skin. Often the spots come in crops so that there are times in between without any spots. Many girls have a bout of acne around the time of their period.

Cosmetics

Very greasy or oily cosmetics are best avoided because they can block up the follicles and make acne worse. This may happen under a fringe when the hair may prevent the grease escaping. Disagreement about the best advice partly stems from the fact that in America they used to have a lot of trouble with greasy make-up causing acne. In Britain most doctors are happy to allow the use of noncomedogenic foundation, moisturizers etc. Some people gain much confidence if they can hide their spots. (more…)

Building a Happy Home, True Happiness, in any Language home is a more beautiful word, sense of Security

Many parents hold to the foolish idea that money is the important thing in life. As a result they neglect their children and fail to spend sufficient time in their training. This is a serious mistake. Money is always useful, but material wealth alone will never guarantee a happy home. In fact, it might have the opposite effect.

Although a good bank account might be a fine asset to any well-trained young person, it could be a menace to one who has never had adequate training. When such a person inherits a large fortune, he may quickly lose it on useless investments. Or as it sometimes happens, he may try to dominate those around him by giving or withholding money. In the end no one is happy. (more…)

Skin Treatment: Pigment and Skincare

Pigment

The pigment in our skin is called melanin and this same substance gives color to our hair and eyes. Fair -skinned people have only a little melanin while those with dark skins have a lot. The main function of melanin is to protect the skin from ultraviolet in the sun’s rays.

Vitiligo

Intensive research, around the world, has so far failed to reveal the trigger for vitiligo or the mechanism. We know that antibodies against the melanocyte are found in the blood, that antibodies against the thyroid gland are also present but that they seem to do no harm. (more…)

Skin Detective: Lumps in the skin Surface (Harmless lumps)

July 22, 2008 By: arlene Category: Body Care, Children, Cosmetic, Facial, Foot Care, Hair Care, Lips Care, Skin Care, Weight Control No Comments →

The medical meaning of the word tumor is simply a swelling or lump raised above the skin surface. Although some tumors are cancers, most are not and the word can be applied to something as harmless as a wart.

Harmless skin lumps of one type or another are exceedingly common: in fact everyone has one or more at some time in their life. Although moles, which are raised, could also be considered here they are dealt with in detail in the section on birthmarks and pigment. This section deals with both harmless or benign lumps as well as true cancers or malignant lumps. (more…)

The Real Meaning of Marriage, Love, Relationship, Marriage, Pheromones

July 19, 2008 By: arlene Category: Family, Health, Life, People No Comments →

Marriage has been well defined as “the first two-party system of government ever devised.” This is a good definition, for marriage was never intended to be a one-sided affair. It always takes two people to make a successful marriage, but unfortunately it takes only one, through neglect or selfishness, to spoil it.

Of all human relationships marriage is the most important. Only one other takes precedence, and that is one’s relationship to God. For this reason a person should never be tempted to enter into marriage lightly. There is far too much at stake. True marital happiness depends not only on whether the individuals are well matched, but also on whether they can associate together with enduring attention and love. In other words, they must be compatible. They must be in good physical condition, enabling them to impart strong, healthy bodies to their children; and what is more important, they must create an atmosphere of harmony and good will in the home. Too little Hair Baldness or Hair Loss or too much Hair

July 14, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Cosmetic, Hair Care, Nail Care, Skin Care 4 Comments →

Most of the time we take little notice of our hair and nails. During adolescence there may be times we would wish to have different colored or textured hair or curse that our nails break too easily, but after that we pretty well accept our lot. That is until some change occurs. When hair starts to be lost there is not only an immediate cosmetic problem but the scalp may be damaged by sunlight or low doorways. Equally, when finger nails fail to develop properly this problem is both cosmetic and functional: it may become impossible to pick up small objects.

Too little Hair

Male-pattern baldness

This term is used because it is so much more marked in men than in women. The typical changes of receding hair and thinning on top are well known and often run in families: the process may even start before the age of thirty years. Women are much less severely affected and anyway tend to keep the front hair line. However, with increasing age many women notice some thinning on their scalp. The hair loss, in both sexes, is due to the effect of hormones but not an excess of them. The fault lies in the hair roots which become over-sensitive to existing hormone levels. (more…)

Don’t Ruin your Mood, Stress Management, Live a Balanced, Healthy Lifestyle, Life is full of Challenges instead of Threats

July 11, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Clinic, Depression, Diet, Fashion, Food, Health, Life, People, Stress Reducing, Weight Control, Women 4 Comments →

A great many of my patients do not really know what stress actually is. They think that it’s an outside force causing them to feel tense. But that’s not stress — that’s a stressor. Stress is a person’s negative reaction to a stressor.

For the most part, people have a negative reaction to stressors when they feel that their stressors are greater than their ability to deal with them. When they feel like this, they see their stressors as threats. On the other hand, if they think they can handle their stressors, they usually see them as challenges and generally enjoy grappling with them.

If you now feel as if your life is full of threats, instead of challenges, you are experiencing stress. If your degree of stress is severe, it’s going to be quite difficult for you to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle free from compulsion, including the compulsion to overeat. (more…)

How to Control your Weight, are you Overweight, why are you Overweight?

July 09, 2008 By: arlene Category: Diet, Food, Foot Care, Weight Control 4 Comments →

“What’s the use?” they wail. “Everything I eat turns to fat. I just can’t lose weight.” This is probably true, partly because of the way they are going about it.

Going on a reducing diet is no new experience for most of these people. Usually they have tried all kinds of diets, liberal and otherwise. For a time they succeed, but in the end they often find themselves back at the same old level, far above the average for their height and age. Sometimes they are the butt of unfortunate jokes among their friends. In desperation they determine once and for all to lose weight. They are invariably in a hurry to do this. Some abandon food altogether for a time, only to return to their former eating habits with a vengeance and perhaps add a few more pounds. This is not a sensible way to lose weight. (more…)

Suggestions for Losing Weight, Patterns of Living, Advantages of Losing Weight

July 09, 2008 By: arlene Category: Diet, Food, Weight Control 4 Comments →

Why do you want to reduce? Probably for two reasons. You are not happy over what you see when you look into the mirror, and you don’t like what your friends are saying. But do not be in too much of a hurry to get those pounds off. This is where you might have failed before. It is usually better to reduce more slowly. It is not a temporary low calorie diet that you need, but rather an entirely new pattern of living.

Most likely you will not need to make any drastic changes in your diet. Just be sure it is well balanced. Begin by taking smaller amounts of foods you usually eat. Don’t cut out any single item except, perhaps, those rich desserts that you don’t really need. But remember, some foods high in calories may also be necessary to maintain good health.

Potatoes and whole-grain cereals are excellent foods. They should remain in your diet. Just be careful about the amount of food that you take. Omit those that are especially high in fats and carbohydrates. It is so easy to take more than you actually want. Watch this carefully. (more…)

Is Safe to have Animals Around? Diseases Carried by Tularemia, Rabies, Wild Animals

July 07, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Cookery, Family, Health, Healthcare, Life, Skin Care 5 Comments →

Tularemia Diseases

Tularemia is a disease that is carried by many wild animals. Human infections occur most frequently through contact with rabbits and hares. Sportsmen and hunters would be wise to use rubber gloves while skinning and dressing wild game.

Many different animals are found to be infected with tularemia. The disease is sometimes transmitted by insects which bite these animals and then bite human beings shortly afterward.

Mountain streams are sometimes contaminated with these germs as well. Those who drink the polluted water may contract the disease. But the chief source of human infection is through the handling of rabbits. The germs may enter through cuts on the hands and other parts of the body. Improperly cooked rabbit meat is another way the disease spreads among the public in general. (more…)
