Fat, used to it or lose it

Animal bodies, like ours, are made up of two basic components - lean body mass (LBM), which encompasses our muscle tissue, and fat. Lean body mass consists of organs like the heart, the liver, the pancreas, bones and skin, as well as muscle. It is your LBM that burns oxygen, uses nutrients from your food, thinks and feels, moves, grows and repairs itself. A high percentage of LBM is what gives wild animals their power, ease of movement, stamina and sleek bodies. The rest of you is fat. (more…)

It lifts firms and contours skin and softens lines. It brings a glow to your eyes and radiance to your face.

On rising

200m1 spring or purified water with juice of a lemon squeezed into it

BREAKFAST

  • 3/4 cup porridge made with steel cut or rolled oats. Not ‘instant oats’. They shunt too much sugar into your bloodstream too fast.
  • 1 grated or chopped apple or a handful of berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, loganberries, blackberries — fresh or frozen)
  • 1 — 2 tablespoons walnuts — preferably chopped but whole is OK (optional) c 1 — 2 tablespoons almonds — preferably chopped (optional)

Stress Management Techniques

Breathing is a powerful way of constantly controlling the release of adrenaline. Breathing in faster than breathing out is calming. Breathing out faster than breathing in is energising. Deep, regular breathing, using the stomach as guide (and not the lungs as we’ve come to believe) is a natural way to keep the levels of chemicals stable. (more…)

Massage Oil to Help Cellulite

March 03, 2009 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Body Care, Botanical Beauty, Cellulite, Diet, Massage 2 Comments →

Cellulite is a peculiarly female problem in which the hormone oestrogen is believed to play a part. It is characterized by unsightly lumps and bumps which collect in the thighs, buttocks, hips and sometimesthe upper arms. If the area is pinched, the skin puckers and ripples and -does not spring immediately back into place. The affected areas look like orange-peel and are cold to the touch. This is because the underlying tissue is saturated with water and stagnant wastes (unlike ordinary fat).

The Pleasure and Nutrition Principle

January 04, 2009 By: arlene Category: Cookery, Diet, Home, Love, Nutrition 3 Comments →

It may seem unusual to start a section on good nutrition with a plea for delicious food on your table. But it’s far too easy to fall into the trap of talking about nutrition as if it were only quantities of proteins, milligrams of numbered vitamins, units of minerals, and altogether a dry table of contents for the human body, used to correct deficiencies, control diseases and cure weight problems. Obesity Weight Loss, Live Lightly, and Health Everyday

I love pitta, doughnuts, pasta, cheese, butter and cake. Since I got married, life was comfortable and convenient, I had a big house and close to work and all facilities.

My weight seemed more comfortable than my life. I used to be 59kg and nice figure. 3 year’s time, I turned huge. My weight was 118kg. I just couldn’t believe myself.

I love shopping clothes. Since my body fitted nothing, shopping turned out humiliating. When I put on the clothes I carefully picked, I looked like a blooming bulb in the mirror.

My fat cheek, protuberant belly, and cellulite I hate it!

I tried different kind of dieting pills. It just didn’t work. Each time I was starving like a hell. I couldn’t just live on any kind of fruit or veggies. After 6 months weight losing trail, instead of losing weight, I gained 2 more kilograms.

I hided myself from my favorite places: malls, clubs, pubs, even my baby kindergarten. I really felt embarrassed of myself. (more…)

Blackheads

These are plugs of sebum or oil which clog the pores and blacken due to oxidation on exposure to the air. They can easily be removed if you take care not to damage the skin which could result in infection. Heat the skin first by applying a hot compress made of 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda to a pint of hot water (as hot as your skin will take). Apply and re-apply the compress to the blackhead areas for about two minutes to open the pores and loosen the material clogging them. Then gently, with the tips of your fingers wrapped in a paper tissue, (not your nails) ease out the plug. Finish off with an application of alcohol or antiseptic cream. (more…)

Adding Brian into your Healthy Diet

Fibre, the part of whole grains, fruits and vegetables that is not digestible (the bran in whole wheat or the cellulose in raw fruits and vegetables) is removed in the processing of much of our food. Five years ago you would not have even heard the word fibre mentioned in connection with nutrition. (more…)

Eating Naturally

December 23, 2008 By: arlene Category: Cookery, Diet, Nutrition, Recipes, Skin 2 Comments →

Natural foods taste great: red and green salads fresh from the garden, wholegrain bread and fruity jam, a chicken with real chicken taste — no wonder a return to natural foods is one of the most important trends we’ve witnessed in recent years.

Modern progress in preservation, production and processing has certainly added an enormous variety of trouble-free foods to our menus. But it is not all a miracle. Some methods are potentially dangerous to health. Gases are used to ripen and preserve fruits and vegetables. Chemical sprays are applied and fertilizers are spread with alarming casualness over our farm lands. (more…)

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT

Pressure cookers are a useful aid to the good cook, since they make it possible to cook inexpensive cuts of meat in a very short time. They are a form of high-pressure steamer, so you get the benefits of steaming instead of boiling as well. With today’s interest in food gardening, pressure cookers are also useful for preserving bottled fruits and vegetables, and sterilizing jam and marmalade jars. Buy a good solid model, and follow directions carefully. (more…)

Supplements for Super and Natural Health: Natural Pain-Killers and Anti-inflammatory part 1

November 15, 2008 By: arlene Category: Clinic, Diet, Drug, Health, Healthcare, Nutrition, UK, health supplement 3 Comments →

Many disease processes involve inflammation, often characterised by swelling, redness, pain and heat.

These include all the `itis’ diseases — arthritis, dermatitis, colitis, nephritis and hepatitis, as well as asthma and others not often associated with inflammation, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s in which parts of the brain become inflamed. Inflammation also lies at the root of atherosclerosis, the common cause of thrombosis, heart attacks and strokes. In addition, it is an underlying cause of irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, now suffered by eight million people in Britain. (more…)
