Mood and Emotions, Home Identity Color
The colors in our aura change over a period of time, and the shapes and arrangements of the colors are affected by our immediate moods and emotions. We do, however, have certain colors which we feel comfortable with all our lives. These colors are those which are in harmony with our inner vibrations and which I call ‘soul colors‘.
To find out your soul colors, ask yourself the following question: ‘If I were a color, what color would I be?’ If you think that the color light blue best represents you, then that is your soul color. The second way you can find what your auric colors are, is to write down the two colors you wear most often. These usually remain constant over a long period of time and you can make use of them in the color scheme of your home.
Most of us have a preference for either cool colors such as blues and greens, or for warm colors such as peach and yellow. The tone of the color will also attract or repel us. Decide whether you feel happier surrounded by pastels, light but bright colors, or rich, darker tones. You should now have at least three colors to work with, and have identified a group of colors or tones you prefer.
There might also be a color which has recently become appealing to you. You may have bought an item for the house or article of clothing which is different from your usual color choice. It is likely you need this color energy at this time, and you can introduce elements of this color into your home for inspiration. As this new, color preference is likely to be a passing attraction, it is best to introduce it in some impermanent way. You could buy some flowers of this color, or a gemstone, ornament or cushion. Having the object reflecting this color close to you during the day will have a positive effect on your general well-being. You will then ingest the color energy you need through your eyes, skin or from the air. If you choose flowers of a certain color you will absorb the subtle color vibrations through their scent.
Changing your life
Often the colors we choose to have around us are, in fact, reflecting our own bad moods and disharmony. These colors can be detrimental to our physical and mental health. This is especially true if we are feeling depressed, unhappy or lonely. People who feel down often surround themselves with dark colors. What they need, however, are lighter and brighter colors to lift them out of their depression.
Attraction to new colors can signify a change in your outlook and personal growth. These are the colors you are drawn to as your auric colors change. If you have a strong attraction to a color which you have not felt before you can try painting a wall or room in this color. It may be that it is your true identity color or that you are growing and the new you will thrive on this color. By changing the colors around you, you will change your life for the better.
Our favorite colors can help us understand ourselves better. Everyone has good and bad qualities, strengths and weaknesses. It may be that you have too much of one color energy and too little of another. If you find you are displaying the negative qualities of green, add some red into your life. The positive motivation that red provides will help alleviate your indecisiveness.
Colors for partners and family
When making any decorative changes in your home, make sure you are aware of the color identity and preferences of all the people who will share your home. If one person chooses all the colors, it is very likely that the well-being of other occupants will suffer.
There are cases where a home has been decorated in the colors chosen by one member of the family which clash with the internal colors of another. This can lead to disharmony in the home. There is a strong possibility of arguments and squabbling if the soul colors of the two people are opposite.
To bring balance and harmony into the home where the occupants like contrasting colors, choose a neutral background color. Warm beige, cream, ivory, or any light tint works well. Then introduce a selection of the identity and soul colors in furnishings and accessories such as paintings, cushions, plants, rugs and ornaments.
If there is a room which is generally used by one person more than another, for instance a study, this would be an ideal room to decorate with colors that are harmonious with the soul colors of the user.
Creating a color energy balance
It is a good idea to take one of your soul colors as a starting point for building a color scheme. If, for instance, your soul color is yellow, think of all the different shades of yellow found in nature. There are soft creamy yellow flowers, the golden-yellow of the sun, and deep ochre of the earth. You may decide to use different tones of yellow in different areas in your home or just the one that fits with your tone preference.
Once you have established your main color, choose an object that best represents your color and tone. Imagine this object in its natural setting. If you have chosen a yellow sunflower, create a picture of it surrounded by dark green leaves and rich terracotta earth. This will give you a harmonizing group of colors with which to work.
When decorating a home, remember that you need to create a balance between warm and cool colors. A color scheme that limits you to two or three colors only creates a vibrational imbalance.
If your soul color is blue or green, make sure that you introduce some touches of warm shades, like terracotta or peach, to complement your color scheme. If you are unsure which balancing color to use, the complementary color will always work well. This is the color that is the natural opposing — but balancing — color energy.
