Are you feeling a need for space and privacy?
As our cities grow bigger and more densely populated, personal privacy is becoming a valuable commodity. Rather than linking us to the outside world, the home is becoming a sanctuary protecting us from the world.
Children also need privacy, a place where they can hide and feel safe and cozy. Parents might forget this, as children often share rooms until they are teenagers. Adults also require a room or place in the home where they can feel relaxed and private. In many homes, a few minutes in the bathroom is all the privacy that is available.
The most ideal situation is to have a room of your own. A study or sewing room. But if space is short, a special chair, window seat or table can provide a place where you can feel totally secure and withdraw from the world. Even when we go out we need privacy and often mark out an area for ourselves. A mother will often spread a blanket or towel on which her child can play or sleep. We also lay out a cloth when we go for a picnic or find a particular rock or tree on which to hang our belongings.
