Wrinkles and Facial Scars Cosmetic Surgery Skincare Part 3
Wrinkles and Facial Scars Cosmetic Surgery Scars
Ideally chemical face peels and dermabrasion should not leave scars. However, if an area is burned too deeply with the chemical or dermabrasion is too deep, lumpy and angry red scarring can result. This may or may not fade in time — sometimes it is permanent.
All injections leave tiny puncture marks, so this will occur after collagen implants. Normally they are virtually invisible. They might show up as white dots, however, if you have very dark skin, but the procedure isn’t really advisable for dark-skinned people anyway.
Wrinkles and Facial Scars Cosmetic Surgery Problems
A common problem after a chemical peel is the appearance, after a fortnight or so, of little whiteheads on the skin. This means that the sebaceous glands are blocked but they can be cleared with soap and water and light rubbing with a soft clean brush. This cleansing may have to be repeated for several days.
The most unsatisfactory side effect is that your facial skin will be lighter than previously and, if you do not have a total face peel, parts of your skin will look a different colour from the rest. Blotchiness can develop even after a total face peel. The skin pores, particularly on your nose, will look enlarged after a peel and any moles on your face may appear more prominent.
If you are at all lax about your sunscreen protection, you may end up not only painfully burned but with piebald skin. All the above effects can apply after dermabrasion too.
The only problem with collagen implants, apart from possible allergy, is the necessity of repeating them. Less than a third of treatments last up to 18 months or two years, and more usually they must be repeated every six to 12 months.
Wrinkles and Facial Scars Cosmetic Surgery Advantages
These are not procedures where the complications are dire, which is an advantage. However, the benefits need very careful weighing up against the considerable disadvantages. If you are very embarrassed about your facial scarring and are prepared to take enormous care in the sun and to undergo repeat procedures, collagen implants may be a very satisfactory solution to your concerns.
Dermabrasion and chemical face peels should not be undergone lightly. Although their cosmetic results may be very good, in that the first will disguise scars and the second remove wrinkles and brown patches, you must be very sure that you are prepared to put up with the possible and equally visible side effects of large pores and perhaps patchy coloured skin, as well as being beware of the sun.
It is worth bearing in mind if considering a face peel for wrinkles that, while the old wrinkles are unlikely to return, there is nothing to stop new lines appearing in slightly different places.
In other words, dermabrasion and face peels offer few advantages unless you are completely clear about what you will be getting and are satisfied about it.
Wrinkles and Facial Scars Cosmetic Surgery Cost of Private Treatment
£300-plus for chemical face peels and dermabrasion, depending upon the extent of treatment required and time spent in hospital. £60 for test dose of collagen injection and £150-£200 for treatment, depending on the brand of implant used.
