Stomachs very commonly sag after pregnancy, sometimes after one, certainly after several. They also sag as we age or after significant weight gain followed by significant weight loss. Abdominal surgery of various kinds may often leave the stomach muscles slack and the skin covering flabby. Whatever the cause, the effects are very commonly distressing. In western culture, a flat stomach is perhaps too much prized and admired but prized and admired it is, if more by women than by men. Stomach Surgery Procedure

This restriction does not apply if you have had your appendix taken out, an ovarian cyst removed or a Caesarean birth.

There is no upper or lower age limit once you have reached adulthood. But you should not have this surgery if you have suffered from phlebitis (blood clots on the leg).

What needs to be done for Stomach Surgery

Abdominoplasty is carried out under general anaesthetic and may take up to four hours. It is major surgery.

The incision is made at the top outside of the thigh, curves down across the pubic region and up to the top outside of the other thigh. The skin and fat are pulled back from the underlying muscle which is then trimmed where stretched. Excess skin and fat are removed and the skin is pulled back into position. As the skin will be lying higher than before, a new incision is made for the navel, which is normally preserved, to be pulled through. (Sometimes surgeons prefer to remove the original navel and create an artificial one by fashioning an indentation in the skin). The skin is stitched back and the navel, if retained, is stitched into its new place. The site of the old navel must be stitched too. This may fall within the pubic area or it may unfortunately be above it, where the scar will show.

A few drainage tubes will be inserted to avoid blood collecting around your wounds.
