Support Cleansing with the Power of Your Mind

July 31, 2008 By: arlene Category: Food 5 Comments →

Your mind is a wonderful ally in your cleansing program. Although you cannot see your thoughts, they have powerful effects on your health and well-being. Think of your thoughts as mental nourishment. Just as you choose with care the foods that you eat, begin to choose your thoughts with the same care. Realize that your thoughts do not choose you—you choose your thoughts. (more…)

Power of Mind and Emotional Detoxification, Meditation in Purifying the Mind

July 31, 2008 By: arlene Category: Cookery, Foot Care 3 Comments →

Meditation has been practiced for centuries in many spiritual traditions as a way of purifying the mind. Basically, meditation involves quieting the mind so that the mental chatter that fills your waking consciousness can be stilled, if even for a moment. Through quieting the mind, you cultivate a sense of calm, and come to know yourself in a deeper way. Meditation helps you to become aware of habitual patterns of thinking so that you can make better choices about how you are living. Meditation is an excellent way of relieving stress, because when the mind is calm, the body naturally follows. Many people experience feelings of deep peace and clarity through meditation. Experiment with the different meditation techniques that follow and find those which appeal to you. (more…)

Skin Bleaching” Medical Surgery Basic Procedure

Before a chemical peel, the doctor may recommend that the face be “pre-treated” with a special exfoliating cleanser, with retinoic acid, or with alpha-hydroxy acids so that the peel procedure can be performed on a more even skin surface. Just before the peel, the doctor may ask the patient to wash his or her face thoroughly. Then he or she will clean the patient’s face extensively with alcohol oracetone, rubbing the superficial oil from the skin. (more…)

The use of chemicals to “peel away” unwanted or dead skin is a practice with a past. Chemical face peeling can be traced back to ancient Egypt, where creams of alabaster particles suspended in milk and honey were applied to the face for “tightening”. The Egyptians also used animal oils mixed with salt and natural minerals, and plant substances to “exfoliate” their faces. Later, poultices containing mustard, sulfur and limestone were used. Identify Different Spots: Acne Blackheads Greasiness Papules, Pustules and Cysts

July 28, 2008 By: arlene Category: Hair Care, Skin Care 4 Comments →

Acne is something we all recognize. It is so common that only one person in three may escape and probably everyone has a little, mild acne at times. It is normal to have a degree of acne while growing up but this does not make it any easier to cope with. No one finds it easy to cope with any disfigurement on the face. (more…)

Hints for Happy and Pleasant Living, Warm and Happiness

Every living thing seems to have some enemy. Wherever we look, we see the evidences of conflict in one form or another. Human life is no exception. Some of our enemies come out into the open where we can see and watch their movements, but others are far too small for the eye to see. What is worse, they are many times more numerous and far more dangerous. Most of them have the power to multiply within the human body in enormous numbers. These are the enemies we call germs. Some of them may cause serious diseases that could have been prevented with a little care. (more…)

Ideals for Happy Living, hold the Family together

July 28, 2008 By: arlene Category: Children, Depression, Family, Food, Life, Parenting, Recipes 4 Comments →

This is the most important step of all, for no house can be a real home unless those who live there hold ideals that are kind, noble, and good. Without high ideals it is easy for even the best of homes to drift apart. There must always be some things that will hold the family together, such as family worship, in which all the members may share. These happy occasions are not likely to come by accident but must be carefully planned by the parents. (more…)

Western Wearing? Clothes are made in Eastern countries

July 28, 2008 By: arlene Category: Beauty, Fashion, Jewelry 4 Comments →

It’s estimated that around half of clothes sold in the UK are imported from overseas from countries such as Bangladesh, China, Fiji, India, Pakistan, Madagascar, Mexico, and Turkey. Some of these items are made by people who are poorly paid and working in poor conditions. Some are made with the help of child labour. These practices keep the manufacturing prices down and makes the clothes cheaper in UK shops. (more…)

Wearing It Well, Dressing Green

July 28, 2008 By: arlene Category: Fashion, Jewelry 5 Comments →

Every season the shops fill up with new clothes. Winter coats, short and swinging last year, are long and dragging along the pavements this year. Wedges and platform soles are so last year — this year’s shoes are flat and bright. As the trends change, last season’s must-have items look so unappealing and dowdy. The magazines are full of the latest, hottest, most up-to-date fashions and consumers feel obliged to keep up if at all possible. (more…)

Mild Acne and Avoidable Acne relates to Cosmetics, Clothing, Perfume

Acne usually starts as a few blackheads on the nose and forehead and a few inflamed papules also appear often on a greasy skin. Often the spots come in crops so that there are times in between without any spots. Many girls have a bout of acne around the time of their period.

Cosmetics

Very greasy or oily cosmetics are best avoided because they can block up the follicles and make acne worse. This may happen under a fringe when the hair may prevent the grease escaping. Disagreement about the best advice partly stems from the fact that in America they used to have a lot of trouble with greasy make-up causing acne. In Britain most doctors are happy to allow the use of noncomedogenic foundation, moisturizers etc. Some people gain much confidence if they can hide their spots. (more…)

Skin Store Moderate and Severe Acne Facial Treatment

It is difficult to understand why one person may have bad acne covering most of the back or chest but none on the face whilst another individual may have severe facial acne but little elsewhere. We presume that it is only the sebaceous glands and follicles in the affected areas that are responding to the hormone changes in the blood. Whichever area is affected, the changes are of larger papules and pustules which last longer and some of them may leave small scars. Blackheads will almost certainly be seen as well and they can be very extensive. When a flare-up occurs it may be very uncomfortable and an occasional cyst may appear. (more…)

Building a Happy Home, True Happiness, in any Language home is a more beautiful word, sense of Security

Many parents hold to the foolish idea that money is the important thing in life. As a result they neglect their children and fail to spend sufficient time in their training. This is a serious mistake. Money is always useful, but material wealth alone will never guarantee a happy home. In fact, it might have the opposite effect.

Although a good bank account might be a fine asset to any well-trained young person, it could be a menace to one who has never had adequate training. When such a person inherits a large fortune, he may quickly lose it on useless investments. Or as it sometimes happens, he may try to dominate those around him by giving or withholding money. In the end no one is happy. (more…)

Is any other place so dear to the human heart? Wherever we go, our thoughts ever turn to the one spot we can always call our own. No matter how humble, our fondest dreams are centered there. It need not be a mansion or lavishly furnished with the latest appliances. Although these may be desirable, they are not essential to true happiness. As the poet has said:

“Be it ever so humble. There’s no place like home.”

This kind of home is a shelter from the storms of life. It is the one place where the family can enjoy an atmosphere of peace and rest. Such a home will give depth and meaning to all we do, say, or think. If that home is blessed with children who grow into mature and happy young people, there is no lovelier sight in the world. Tired Romance, Solving your Marriage Problems, keep Wedding Promise

Who Starts the Quarrels?

How do most family quarrels start? This, of course, is hard to say, for usually there is no single cause. Often there is some underlying discontent, particularly on the part of the wife. Marriage has changed her lot completely, while her husband may be carrying on the same work that has occupied his time for years. He may prefer to continue his routine uninterrupted, while she will want plenty of variety. She may then assume that he does not love her. This may be true in some instances, but not in most. In any case she may begin to feel rather neglected. She wants more attention. A brisk family contention may seem a rather rough way to bring this about, but it usually attracts the attention she craves—sometimes much more! Most men will take just so much, then there may be trouble, perhaps even physical violence. The sensible thing to do is prevent such episodes before they reach the place where there seems to be no turning back. (more…)

Almost every healthy person at some time has had a desire to be married. This is the most natural thing in the world.

There may be various reasons for this desire— love, sex, security, companionship, and so forth —but the urge is usually there. Moderate and severe Skin Acne and Skin Treatment, Problem Skin

July 24, 2008 By: arlene Category: Lips Care, Skin Care, UK 2 Comments →

Most people will need advice from their doctor to help in the treatment of moderate or severe acne. Generally doctors will start with cheap, safe agents which have few side effects and only if these fail will they recommend medication to be taken by mouth.

Topical preparations (onto the skin)

Benzoyl peroxide

This has been around for more than thirty years but we do not yet know fully how it works. It loosens blackheads and kills bacteria but has other effects as well. It comes in strengths from two-and-a-half to twenty per cent and may be bought as a cream, gel or a wash. Examples are given in the previous section. (more…)

Pigment

The pigment in our skin is called melanin and this same substance gives color to our hair and eyes. Fair -skinned people have only a little melanin while those with dark skins have a lot. The main function of melanin is to protect the skin from ultraviolet in the sun’s rays.

Vitiligo

Intensive research, around the world, has so far failed to reveal the trigger for vitiligo or the mechanism. We know that antibodies against the melanocyte are found in the blood, that antibodies against the thyroid gland are also present but that they seem to do no harm. (more…)

Skin Treatment: Birthmarks and Skincare

Birthmarks

It would be logical if all birthmarks were present at birth. This is not always the case. Some marks appear in the first few days of life but others can be delayed by months or years. In these cases it is thought that the fault resides in the skin from birth but only reveals itself when some other factor acts as a trigger. An example of this is the unusual problem called Becker’s nevus. It has the appearance, usually on the shoulder, of a large light brown patch, often with some coarse dark hair in it. It is first seen at puberty and is triggered by rising hormone levels. Salmon patches or stork bites derive their name from the old fable about babies being delivered down the chimney by a friendly stork whose beak has clasped the human bundle by the nape of the neck. These marks are seen in about a quarter of the population. Sometimes they are thought to have appeared in adult life but it is only that some new hair style or hair disease has revealed a patch that has really been present since birth. (more…)

Treatment of skin lumps

Cryotherapy

The destruction of skin tumors by bringing the temperature well below freezing point is called cryosurgery. Liquid nitrogen is the most popular refrigerant (temperature in the flask -196°C). It is applied to the skin either on a cotton swab or as a spray through a nozzle from a flask. The use of liquid nitrogen for the treatment of warts is described elsewhere. Other uses are treating seborrheic warts, actinic keratoses (see under sun-induced skin changes) and occasionally small basal cell cancers. (more…)

Skin cancers

Skin cancer is already a common disease but we are seeing it more and more. There may be several reasons for this but an important one is that more fair-skinned people are being exposed to sunlight, either on holiday or having emigrated to a hot country. The problem is so great in subtropical Australia that almost every adult has at least one skin cancer in their life. Much more will be said about the damaging effect of sunlight on skin but it is such an important subject that there is no harm in mentioning it twice. (more…)
