Foot Bath
This is a wonderful way of refreshing and reviving tired feet after a hard day.
Boil up a kettle of water, and pour it over any of the following herbs, 2 litres (8 cups) boiling water to 4 cups herbs: elder flowers and leaves, maidenhair fern, peppermint, pine- needles, rosemary, sage, yarrow, myrtle, mustard seeds, cornfrey leaves, or castor oil leaves.
I first rub my feet with a little wheatgerm oil to which I have added a few drops of lavender oil. Then I immerse them in a basin of this brew, and soak for 10 minutes. Dry briskly and rub on a little soothing cream.
Quick Foot Refresher
Dip a few large castor oil leaves in hot water. Wrap them round your feet. Cover them with a warm towel, and sit back and relax for 15 minutes. In no time you’ll be ready to go dancing.
Athlete’s Foot Treatment
Athlete’s foot is a most irritating fungal infection when the pH of the foot changes from acid to alkaline. To treat this condition effectively use apple cider vinegar in a foot bath three times a day. Wash the feet with soapwort, not soap, and allow the feet as much air as possible. Walk barefoot or wear open- toed sandals, but do be considerate when coming into contact with others as athlete’s foot is highly infectious.
125 ml (1/2 cup) comfrey leaves
125 ml (1/2 cup) elder flowers
10 ml (2 tsp) borax 10 ml (2 tsp) honey 250 ml (1 cup) sweet oil
Blend all the ingredients in a liquidiser. Rub into the feet, then wash off with warm water. Store excess in the refrigerator. This mixture is also excellent for aching legs and it does wonders for the skin.
Herbal Bath for Athlete’s Foot
25 ml (2 tbsp) calendula flowers
62,5 ml (5 tbsp) apple cider vinegar
1-2 litres (4-8 cups) water
Boil up the herbs in the water in a covered pot for 15 minutes. Cool. Strain. Add the vinegar. Save the strained herbs to rub between the toes. Immerse the feet in the ‘tea’ and sit down for half an hour and relax. Dry the feet meticulously. Do this daily until the condition clears.
Foot Massage
Having a foot massage is pure heaven and this oil is wonderfully soothing and relaxing after a hard day.
